Office for Budget Responsibility criticises SDLT relief for First Time Buyers

The OBR proposes that prices paid by first time buyers would actually be higher with the relief than without it so that the main gainers from the policy will be people who already own property, not the first time buyers themselves and that the relief will distort the housing market at prices around £500,000.
